Shaykh Wasim obtained his PhD in Arabic and Islamic sciences and studied jurisprudence and legal theory at al-Azhar University.
He also studied at the Sha’baniya Seminary under the instruction of the esteemed Shaykh ‘Abdullah Siraj al-Din and several other teachers at the seminary.
He also studied under a number of other teachers in Damascus, such as Dr. Nur al-Din ‘Itr, Dr. Sa’id Ramadan al-Bouti, Dr. Muhyi al-Din Mastu, and others.
He studied language pedagogy at the University of Aleppo and has worked in the field of education and development for over fifteen years.
He has taught Arabic to non-native speakers for three years, and is a senior lecturer in Arabic at Bogazici Universitesi, Akdem Istanbul, Dar al-‘Ulum al-Islamiyya, Waqf Jami’ Sultan Ahmad in Istanbul, and Waqf al-Diyanet al-Turki.
He is the general director of the Iqra’ Educational Institutes. He has participated in several international conferences and workshops on education and development.
