True Happiness in Islam: Rejoicing in Allah’s Favor and Mercy
In this first episode of the second season of Journey Through the Quran, Shaykh Mokhtar Maghraoui invites us to rethink what it truly means to be “happy.”
Reflecting on the verse:
“Say: In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy – in that let them rejoice; it is better than all they amass.” (Quran 10:58)
We are reminded that real joy is not in what we collect of dunya, but in Allah’s fadl (divine favor) and rahma (loving mercy) – and in the gift of Rasulullah ﷺ as “a mercy to all the worlds.”
In this episode, we explore:
• How Allah teaches us how to be happy and what to rejoice in
• Why being chosen for iman, Islam, and divine guidance is the greatest favor
• The meaning of Allah’s rahma as “womb-like” loving mercy
• Rasulullah ﷺ as the living embodiment of mercy
• How sharia, when understood properly, is entirely enveloped in mercy, wisdom, justice, and benefit
• The different “types” of happiness (cattle-like, predatory, devil-like, and angel-like) and where we want our hearts to be
• How to find inner expansion, balance, and serenity even in a materialistic world
May this journey through the Quran help us all rejoice in Allah, in His Messenger ﷺ, and in the values He loves for us. 🤍
