Dr. Rania Awaad

Shaykha Dr. Rania Awaad, MD is a Clinical Professor and practicing Psychiatrist based at the Stanford University School of Medicine where she is also the Director of the Stanford Muslim mental health and Islamic psychology lab, an affiliate chaplain and professor of Islamic studies and Islamic Psychology at Stanford University.

She is a co-founder and the President of Maristan (a holistic Muslim mental health nonprofit) and The Rahmah Foundation (for educating Muslim women and girls).

Shaykha Rania also served as the first female professor of Islamic Law at Zaytuna College where she taught Fiqh and Quran for a decade prior to her Professorship at Stanford University. Prior to studying medicine, she completed her shariah studies in Damascus and holds Ijazas (certifications) in Islamic law and Quran- including in the ten canonical recitations of Quran.
