Check Your Selfie - Mohamed Ghilan & Omar Suleiman

Social media has pervaded not only our culture but our own personal and virtual identity. Its widespread influence has led to a social paradox: we are connected more than ever before, but we are lonelier and have less meaningful relationships. We are overjoyed in sharing our lives online, from exuberant “selfies” to the most mundane minutiae of our daily routine. But does sharing our happiness and lives lead to arrogance and narcissism? Does it mask our own insecurities and is our crafted online image and personal promotion nothing but hypocrisy? Navigating successfully through social media requires an awareness of what is hidden in our heart, and only known to the Divine. In this live recording from Al-Madina Institute, Mohamed Ghilan and Omar Suleiman discuss how to reach a balance in our use of social media.
